Fotiva: Interactive Web Photobooth Studio
Interactive digital web photobooth studio celebrating retro Y2K & K-Pop aesthetics: live camera capture sessions with automated timers, multi-pose photo strip canvas editor, and 300 DPI print export.
Role-Isolated Ecosystem Previews
Modern digital photobooth experience directly in the browser: retro Y2K landing, aesthetic theme selections, live webcam capture session with countdown timers, photo strip canvas editor with stickers, and high-res print export.
Project Architecture & Overview
Fotiva brings the viral Korean photobooth studio experience directly into modern web browsers without any app installation. Powered by the WebRTC MediaStream API for crisp webcam feeds with automated countdown timers and synchronized multi-pose shutters. Users can choose iconic visual themes (K-Pop Idol, Cyber Y2K, Minimalist), customize their photo strips with drag-and-drop stickers via the HTML5 Canvas API, apply analog film grain shaders, and export print-ready 300 DPI strips or share via mobile QR codes.
Case Study & Retrospective
High-Resolution Multi-Layer Canvas Rendering on Mobile Safari
Exporting 300 DPI print-ready photo strips (2400x3600px) triggered browser tab crashes on Mobile Safari due to canvas memory limits.
Engineered an OffscreenCanvas web worker pipeline that processes sticker layers and frame textures in memory-efficient sub-buffers prior to composite export.
Camera Shutter & Multi-Frame Countdown Synchronization
Hardware shutter lag across diverse webcams caused captures to fire asynchronously before visual countdown zero marks.
Implemented requestAnimationFrame-driven timing loops with pre-decoded Web Audio API cues for millisecond-accurate shutter firing.
